about us

Bienvenue au  yoga rad’a montréal!

rad’a yoga offers a unique space that supports the discovery and deepening of spiritual practice, personal growth and reflection.

The rad’a yoga centre in Montreal closed in May 2011, but we hope to re-establish swami Radha’s teachings in Montreal in the future.

Our broader community:

We are part of a broader community of approximately 20 Radha Yoga Centres throughout the world, including Vancouver’s radha yoga and eatery in the Downtown Eastside. These centres grew out of the teachings of Swami Sivananda Radha.

Swami Radha was among the first Westerners to bring yoga to the West. In 1955, she was called to meet her guru, Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, and became the first Western woman to be initiated by him. Swami Radha spent the remaining forty years of her life passionately committed to bringing these teachings to the West. During this time she founded Yasodhara Ashram and the Radha Yoga Centres, as well as a small press, timeless books, which has published her ten books on yoga. In 1969 she founded ascent magazine, which blossomed into a highly respected international yoga magazine.

Radha Yoga Centres provide a spiritual community in the city, each with its own unique way of bringing yogic values and practices into our daily lives. Classes, workshops and experiential learning invite you to go deeply into your inner knowledge and create your own symbology. The Radha lineage offers practices such as Dream Yoga, Hidden Language Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Kundalini Yoga for the West, and meditations such as the Divine Light Invocation.

. Our vision is to offer a space that invites people to cultivate their inspiration and develop practices that nourish and sustain their inner light. We are working to create a collective consciousness towards tending our community, and our world.

Join us in bringing daily practices into collective action!
