Carol writes:

Celebrating in London the 15 years anniversary Swami Radha’s transition to the Light
A warm glow inside as a bitter cold wind blows outside. Just three of us Christine, Jayne and myself. We start with a warm drink then settle around the altar which is surrounded with beautiful yellow roses, sweetly perfumed lilies and a velvet soft dark magenta cyclamen. Swami Radha’s image radiates love and kindness. This is indeed a celebration of a life lived to the full. A life of giving. I gaze at her eyes and marvel at how her love feels so strong and how this woman, whom I never knew physically, can have had, and still has, such an important influence on my life. Her love seems ever to grow stronger and her joy permeates all.
We start with a Divine Light Invocation then Jayne relates how in the early hours of the morning of 1December fifteen years ago (UK time 8 hours ahead of Ashram time) Elizabeth, now Swami Jyotihananda, woke her to tell her of Swami Radha’s passing. Of how grateful she was that they were able to both fly back to the Ashram together and join many many others who came together to honour this amazing woman who had given so much .
Hari Om As we chant I feel the link with all the other devotees coming together to honour a great woman, but as we do so it feels as if we are also nourishing and tuning in with the whole Saraswati lineage and in turn the lineage nourishes us all.
It is a privilege to be part of a community that brings such vibrancy and life in honour of her legacy. Hari Om Hari Om - the light outside the window reflects and twinkles in the snow. With a glow in our hearts we close with another Divine Light Invocation followed by wonderful moist and fruity Christmas cake and reflections and memories of stays at the Ashram. It is the start of the Festival of Light.

This was a day when I was continuing the work with a bi-lingual student, Maria, of translating the Divine Light Invocation into French. We've been going back to Swami Radha's original instructions, practising, allowing the flow of words to come with the Light, being prepared to change. I think that's the learning from this day, to be prepared to let the Light change me.
Gratitude to those keeping the Light flowing.

I spread my practice throughout the day, doing some of it with my fellow Radha yogis in our evening online class.
During the day I could feel the energy build - there is so much power that arises through the practice of the Divine Light Invocation.
After about seven I really eased into the giving of the Light and found the practice took on a different quality - perseverance pays off when it comes to practice!
In gratitude to Swami Radha, my teachers and fellow yogis.

Hi there, I have just read Jovita's account of being at the Ashram for the YDC and found it very moving and uplifting. I met Jovita at the 10day course in June 08. I was actually given a very old hidden hatha yoga book many years ago , found it amazing but did not know where to reach a teacher, then when I moved back to N. Ireland I started a yoga teacher training course and one of the teachers on that course was Colleen Thompson and she introduced me to Kundalini yoga for the West and it was then that I felt I needed to go to the Ashram, that was in '97 so it took me a while to get there, now I know deep down that I want to do the YDC but things have not become clear enough for me yet. I still have wonderful memories of the Ashram, the help of the teachers and the great support of the other members of the group, infact until then I had not felt so supported within a group and find this support within the other workshops I have done in England with Jayne Boys. Thank you everyone and keep well. Barbara

Congrats Elizabeth for finishing the book reports! You continue to inspire me :) I have 10 left, eek! I like the pressure though, it's leaving no room for perfectionism. See you in the summer at the ashram, Much Light, and Namaste,
Claire

p.s. great website James! I just found it.

It is lovely to touch base through your newsletter. It takes me back to our YDC in 2008 when there were so many of you from Europe taking the course here. We are preparing for a celebration of Swami Radha's birthday tomorrow- It looks like it will be a sunny warm day so we can offer some karma yoga outside as we work to fix up the grounds for summer. Much Light to you all - It eliminates any sense of separation or distance. Lynn

It is lovely to see your newsletter for the first time and to see all that is happening over in Europe. I met many of you during our YDC in 2008 so it has a special interest for me. Swami Radhananda is back here at the Ashram and a few days after she arrived she gathered we residents together to do a "Music and Consciousness" workshop which is inspiring. We continue to reflect on our pictures and how it relates to our work each week. Keep up your good work. In Light, Lynn (fairey)
