More about Shakti Deva: www.shaktideva.ca
We are thrilled to confirm that we have booked Shakti Deva, a wonderful band from Calgary that plays devotional songs in the kirtan (call-and-response) style. On their website (www.shaktideva.ca), the group calls kirtan “the practice of singing and repeating the name of God or divine attributes in song.” They have already participated with the Calgary Radha Yoga Centre on a kirtan, so we believe this is a wonderful partnership. The event will be Saturday March 3, 2012, 7:00 p.m. in the downstairs yoga and event space at Noorish, 8440 – 109 Street. Tickets are $20 each and available now at Blackbyrd Myoozik (10442 – 82 Ave) and at our Sunday Satsangs.
Shakti Deva sings many songs from the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda, the subject of the remarkable Autobiography of a Yogi. His Cosmic Chants have been sung for many years at Yasodhara Ashram and Radha Yoga Centres, so if you’ve been to one of our satsangs, you will thoroughly enjoy this special kirtan.
Please note that seating is VERY limited, so get your tickets today. In the meantime, enjoy this wonderful video by Shakti Deva:
